About GenerARTive Shop

Why We Exist

Burnout can dull imagination, shrink capacity, and make it hard to show up fully. We believe rest and creativity aren’t luxuries; they’re the lifeblood of resistance, the foundation of our ability to dream, thrive, and build freely.

GenerARTive Shop was born from that belief. We make art that gives organizers, educators, healers, and freedom dreamers a place to land, a portal to joy, vision, and power, even in the middle of the work.

Freedom is a practice. This shop is our small offering in that tradition.

Women of Color Owned & Managed

GenerARTive Shop was created by Haleema, a woman of color with a background in sociology, systems change, and advocacy. She brings expertise in diagnosing complex problems and designing solutions through programmatic, policy, and funding frameworks. Her work is featured in The New York Times, Bloomberg, the San Francisco Chronicle, KQED, and Streetsblog.

Haleema believes in empowering communities with the tools they need to drive change. She’s trained over 2,000 people on topics including Islamophobia, bystander intervention and community safety, advocacy, anti-racism, and gender-based violence.

Embroidery and coloring have long been her own grounding practices, ways to manage stress and stay present. She’s excited to share that practice with you.

Workshop: Liberation in Full Color

Bring the Freedom As Practice coloring book to life through a hands-on workshop designed to spark reflection, dialogue, and healing.

Rooted in the themes of the book—radical self-trust, collective care, rest, imagination, and liberation—this guided experience is more than a typical art activity. It’s a space to reconnect with your values, your voice, and your vision for a more just world.

Participants will:

  • Explore selected themes from the coloring book through prompts and dialogue
  • Engage in collective and personal reflection using guided journaling + coloring
  • Practice mindfulness and creative expression as tools for resistance and restoration
  • Leave with a deeper connection to themselves and their communities

Session includes:

  • A printed and digital copy of the Freedom As Practice coloring and reflection book
  • Art supplies (for in-person sessions)
  • A trauma-informed, equity-centered facilitation experience
  • Music and ground practices
  • Add-on: guided yoga session
